Natural Protein Hair Treatment at Home (Budget-Friendly & Effective!)

 Natural Protein Hair Treatment

By Joanna Vidal

Hi beautiful people! I’m Joanna, and if you’re like me to share my way—dealing with frizzy, dry, or damaged hair on a tight budget—you’ll love this easy DIY hair treatment. I’ve tried many store-bought products, but nothing beats the magic of natural ingredients straight from the kitchen. In this blog, I’m sharing my go-to one-ingredient treatment that brings life back to my hair—without the salon price tag.

Why Natural is Better

I believe that self-care doesn’t have to be expensive. While salons offer amazing treatments, they can also cost a lot of money and time. So why not give your hair the same love at home using safe, affordable ingredients?

Today’s star ingredient: Mayonnaise!

Yes, mayo isn’t just for sandwiches—it’s packed with protein, natural oils, and vitamins that help strengthen and moisturize hair.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2–3 tablespoons of mayonnaise (any brand or homemade)

  • A small bowl

  • Wide-tooth comb or brush

  • Hair clip

  • Hair cap or clean plastic wrap

How to Apply Mayo Hair Treatment:

  1. Prep the mayo – Scoop the mayo into your bowl.

  2. Section your hair – Divide your hair into parts to make application easier.

  3. Apply evenly – Use your hands to coat your hair from root to tip.

  4. Massage the scalp – Gently massage your scalp for 1–2 minutes to improve circulation.

  5. Wrap it up – Clip your hair and cover it with a cap or plastic wrap.

  6. Let it sit – Leave the treatment on for at least 1 hour.

  7. Rinse and wash – Rinse with lukewarm water, then wash using your favorite shampoo and conditioner.

  8. Dry gently – Towel dry or air dry. You can also blow dry on low heat, but leave a little moisture in for best results.

The Results

Your hair will feel soft, light, shiny, and nourished—like you just got a protein treatment from the salon! I recommend doing this once a week or whenever your hair feels extra dry or damaged.

Final Thoughts:

Taking care of your hair doesn’t need to cost a fortune. With a little time and one simple ingredient, you can give your hair the love it deserves. I hope you try this out and feel as confident and refreshed as I do every time I use it!

A Traditional Filipino Wedding

F ilipino Traditional Wedding: Experience from my Sister's Wedding By Joanna Vidal The bride walking down the aisle with our parents during the church ceremony In my previous blog post, I shared about the traditional Arab Muslim wedding. This time, I want to take you into something much closer to my heart—the beauty and complexity of a traditional Filipino Roman Catholic wedding. As someone who grew up with these customs, I’ve seen how modern life has started to reshape our traditions. Many couples today choose more practical or modern approaches due to financial constraints. Honestly, it makes me a little sad—because there’s something magical about the old ways. But I also understand. Life isn’t easy, and sometimes simplicity is the smarter choice. So instead of talking about tradition in theory, let me share something real and personal—my sister’s wedding in 2024. It was a beautiful blend of tradition and modern convenience, a hybrid celebration that honored our culture while ad...

True Friends Vs Fake Ones

True Friendship is Rare and it’s Okay By Joanna Vidal Hi, I’m Joanna the voice behind Unjoannables Blog. I share honest stories from the heart, inspired by real-life experiences. From friendship lessons and personal reflections to beauty tips, travel adventures, lifestyle hacks, and more, this blog is my little corner where I connect with others through truth and growth. I believe in kindness, faith, and the power of healing through words. Thanks for being here, I hope you find something that speaks to you. People often say that true friends are the ones you meet during childhood. But now that I’m in my 30s, I’ve walked away from many friendships I once thought would last forever. Maybe some would say I have an attitude problem, but for me, I simply let go when I feel unappreciated, when the friendship I’m trying to build doesn’t feel mutual. As I grow older and more independent, I’ve learned that having many friends isn’t as important as having a few real ones. One or two genuine peop...

Braces Pros and Cons

Braces for a Cause: My Journey to a Confident Smile By Joanna Vidal My Braces installed I had lower braces for over three years. The main reason? I lost both of my lower canine teeth back in high school. At the time, I didn’t think much about it. I didn’t realize how important it was to have strong, healthy teeth—and to take care of them before it’s too late. As the years passed, my lower teeth started to shift. Gaps formed on both sides, and eventually, it began to affect the way I spoke. Air would escape through the gaps when I talked (and yes, sometimes a little saliva too—gross and embarrassing, right?). I started mispronouncing certain letters—my T and F sounded like S, and my R sounded like L. It was embarrassing, especially when talking to new people. My family and close friends understood, but strangers didn’t. I could feel them getting distracted by my speech—or worse, laughing. Since I was studying tourism, I realized I needed to do something about it. I wanted to impro...
